I'm Annalee, a couples and wedding photographer based in San Francisco, and this mid-century modern property might be my favorite place in the world. The wild ocean and the clean lines of 1960s modernist design work together to make something that's hard to put into words. It's the perfect place for a beautiful, intentional proposal, and I'm always so excited to make the drive up the coast to document love stories here.

To me, photography is about telling love stories with warmth and honesty. You deserve to look back on the moment you proposed and remember exactly how it felt. My approach is photojournalistic — a promise to stay deeply present as it unfolds and document it with honesty. Together we'll make images that hold one of your most treasured memories in a way that feels joyful and real.
how a surprise sea ranch proposal works
We'll pick the spot together ahead of time. I know the Lodge well, and I'll help you find the perfect place. On the day of, I'll already be in position before you arrive, usually hiding in plain sight. I'll catch the whole thing as it happens, and once the two of you have had a minute to take it in, we'll make a few more photos of you together around the beautiful property to commemorate this exciting day.

where should we stay?
The Lodge has 17 unique rooms, each with an ocean view. If you are planning to propose on Lodge property, book a stay there as well. It's the perfect place for a romantic stay; in-room food and beverage service, a nice restaurant on-site, a calm atmosphere that encourages connection and slowness. If you are searching for somewhere even more private, there are home rentals scattered throughout the community managed by the Lodge itself through Sea Ranch Living.
do you shoot on film or digital?
Both! I offer the option of adding film coverage to your proposal. Film has beautiful, organic colors and a timeless quality. Digital is great for speed and low light. If you so choose, your gallery will be filled with a beautiful mix of medium format film, 35mm film, and digital.
what is the best time of day for a sea ranch proposal?
If your schedule and the weather allows, I often recommend late afternoon into golden hour. The light is at its softest and warmest.
